Simple Beauty Hacks You Need To Know For Spring Break

By Kristen Peuvion on March 18, 2015

Spring Break is a time for frolicking in the ocean, lounging by the pool and playing on the beach. Your days are full of sun, saltwater and sand and there is not a care in the world to be had.

Well, there’s no care in the world besides how wrecked your hair and skin can get in all of those different elements. Your week long Spring Break should be as worry free as possible; after all, it’s your one break all semester, but thinking about all of the burnt skin, damaged hair and other beauty woes we suffer from after a week-long celebration of fun in the sun can cause a lot of panic.

Not to worry, though! There are tons of simple, fast beauty hacks and products to take advantage of during your Spring Break to minimize any beauty problems that might get in the way of your week of tanning, partying and relaxing.

Waterproof/SPF Makeup

Makeup on the beach is typically thought of as a no-go–after all, it is the one time it’s socially acceptable to go 100 percent au natural.

Plus, often times, makeup just can’t hold up to the elements your skin has to endure when hanging out on the beach. It either washes right off, you’re left with raccoon eyes or your sunscreen ruins it. Either way, the outcome is not good. Or at least that’s how it used to be.

Now, makeup is so advanced that all of those problems are a thing of the past! If you want to wear a little bit of makeup at the beach, now you can.

Countless brands offer waterproof versions of your favorite mascaras and eyeliners. Plus, you don’t need to worry about sunscreen wiping off your makeup with the invention of foundation with SPF. Your face will be completely covered with the added bonus of some much needed SPF.

The beach may not be the place to pull out your most dramatic makeup look, but now you can wear a little bit without having to worry!

The Tea Bag Trick

Everyone has suffered from a bad sunburn at least once in their life. It happens to even the most careful sunscreen appliers and Spring Break is bound to leave you with at the very least, a slight burn.

And unfortunately, even the smallest burn can be pretty painful so it’s a good idea to have a good remedy for that pain.

While aloe vera is the most conventional pain relief treatment for sunburn, it isn’t the only one out there. If you’re looking for a different idea, try soaking a washcloth in a pot of room temperature tea and then rub it on the burn for relief.

The great thing about this hack is that many hotels provide complimentary tea bags in the room, so this remedy is easy and free to make. But remember, try to avoid the burn altogether by applying sunscreen regularly.

Get Rid of Unwanted Sand

Before you leave on your Spring Break adventure, don’t forget to pack one key item: baby powder! This might sound a little strange but this powdery substance will be a lifesaver after a long day at the beach. How so?

Well, after you’ve spent the entire day on the beach, both in the water and in the sand, you’ll undoubtedly have sand all over your body when it’s time to go back inside. No one likes a room full of sand, though, which is where the baby powder comes in.

Instead of trekking all of that sand back into the hotel room, rub baby powder over the sandy areas of your body. This will dry up all of the moisture on your skin so that with a simple brush of a towel, all of the sand will come right off!

So make sure to pick up some baby powder before you leave. The hotel cleaning staff, as well as your roommates, will thank you!

Leave the Curling Iron at Home

Spring Break is the time when you can get away with having a super low-maintenance beauty routine and you should take advantage of that. Rather than taking up unnecessary space in your suitcase by packing every hair care appliance and product you own, leave most of them home and opt for a natural look.

We’ve all seen those products infused with sea salt that are meant to create beachy waves, but why not ditch the product and use the real thing? The easiest way to get those enviable, beachy waves is to jump in the ocean.

Sea salt naturally creates waves in most hair types, so hop in the ocean and let your hair air dry. You’ll be left with a set of natural waves without having to use a curling iron.

So let’s keep your Spring Break as stress free as possible. Even with the sun, wind, sand and water, you can still have a super relaxing week.

Just keep these beauty hacks in mind all week long and the only worry you could possibly have is whether you want to lounge at the pool or hang out at the beach!
